The Past

"The Steppe remembers what I cannot forget. The tree I never broke free from, the name I never claimed, the light I can no longer see. Though I may be broken...I am not undone. The wind will still carry my name, even if my tribe does not."Zilyana's story begins while she was still young, when her coming of age had arrived. As is tradition amongst the Tumet's she was bound to the sacred tree, told she must break herself free, and find her way back to the wandering tribe on her own. Only then would she be able to claim her name from her parents and become a true member of the tribe. But the fates were cruel. A rivaling tribe had stalked the them on that journey. Defenseless and alone she was taken captive, her trial cut short by those who saw her as nothing more than a prize. Brutal and merciless they were, subjecting her to untold cruelties as she refused to succumb, she remained unrelenting and tenacious. The young Au Ra continued to be defiant, refusing to follow orders, she fought her captors at every opportunity. Each time it left her more beaten and bruised than the last. This went on for some time, until that one fateful evening, the brutish kidnappers had finally grown sick and tired of her defiance, a particular brute had had enough and viciously clubbed the Xaela on the head, leaving her in a month long coma. She was changed when she awoke, her eyes no longer functioned, and without her vision her will to fight had all but diminished. For several long years she endured a life of servitude, spending her days cooking, cleaning and performing other menial tasks for her captors. Sold and passed between one master to the next from the Steppe to Hingashi. She remained nameless all this time, until she found solace in the kindness of a fellow slave. An elderly woman who had also been torn from her homeland. It was this woman who gave her the name Zilyana. Meaning "life everlasting". The name was a gift, one she cherishes and proudly carries. Through hardships this woman became a mentor and motherly figure during these trying times.Tragically, the woman's life was cut short a year later by the cruelty of their captors. Her death reignited the spark within the Au Ra. In her darkness and despair she found strength, amongst a few other things everyday folk would likely frown upon. Through these devices and under the cover of a howling storm one night she made her escape and never looked back.

Hooks

  • Strange Aether: Though kept well hidden, those sensitive to aether could possibly be able to pick up the distinct trace of darkness within her otherwise wind aspected aether.

  • Aethersight: Though it is rather weak still, her aethersight permits her to see the aether within others. At best its used to avoid walking into strangers during her strolls. But if you posses particularly strong aether or a certain aspect of it stands out then she will likely notice.

  • Reaper: Though she is shy about speaking on her skills as a fighter, one who recognizes the type of people who use this weapon could likely approach her for inquiry if she's seen carrying it.

OOC

Thank you for reading, this carrd's still very much a work in progress.Approching IC or OOC is fine with me, I do have a preference for interacting in private or party chat outside of immersive RP areas, and especially around larger crowds. If there's anything you'd like to ask feel free to PM me in game. I try to do my best to stick to the lore, and tend to play as a rather grounded character. I do prefer RP partners of similar mind in that regard. Even so ill always keep an open-mind and give everyone a fair share of effort.ERP is fine with me with appropriate build up story building between our /c/haracters.
